Meet our Maker

Hi! I’m Nadine — a scientist turned jeweller.

I started making jewellery in 2019 as a hobby and quickly fell in love with it. I’ve always been fascinated by antique jewellery and the craftsmanship behind it, and I wanted to understand how these beautiful pieces were created.

The Story

I joined my local lapidary club, where a retired jeweller taught me the basics of jewellery making. There I made my first bracelet and ring. Not long after, I stumbled across sand casting and was instantly hooked! It wasn’t the style of jewellery making I originally set out to learn, but I couldn’t get over the excitement of opening a mould and seeing the piece revealed for the first time — plus I wasn’t a huge fan of soldering.....

After buying a Delft clay kit, I taught myself sand casting through LOTS of trial and error, experimentation, and practice. At the time, there weren’t many online videos or workshops available, and if there had been, it would have saved me a lot of time. That’s what led me to start sharing my process online. On social media, there weren’t many people doing what I was doing, and as I shared more, I began receiving a lot of questions about sand casting.

That eventually led me to create the first online sand casting course, teach live Zoom classes, and travel around Australia running workshops. To date I’ve taught thousands of people around the world how to sand cast.

I’ve now taken a step back from teaching so I can focus more on making, refining my skills, and developing my own work.

Before becoming a jeweller, I studied Environmental Science, graduating with First Class Honours and publishing two research papers. That background has strongly influenced how I run my business today — sustainability, recycling, and giving new life to old jewellery are incredibly important to me.

The majority of the pieces I create incorporate recycled gold, inherited gemstones, and sentimental jewellery that would otherwise sit unworn in a drawer. I love helping my clients transform these materials into something meaningful that can be worn and enjoyed every day.

I’m always looking to push the boundaries of what can be sand cast, while keeping everything in house to avoid sending work out to casting houses. No two pieces are ever exactly the same, and that’s what I love most about the process.

A big part of my work is texture -  I am heavily inspired by the beach and water  I bring that into my work through sand casting textures along with adding beach sand to create unique textures.

Because I work primarily with recycled gold and silver and make everything in small batches or as one off pieces, my process creates far less waste than traditional mass production. It also gives me the freedom to focus on what matters most — creating jewellery that tells a story, holds meaning, and is made to be worn and loved for years to come.
