Cast Your Own Found Object in Solid Sterling Silver
✨ A sand-casting workshop inspired by nature, nostalgia & the little things we treasure.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to cast found objects into solid sterling silver using the ancient technique of sand casting.
Bring along the small keepsakes you love — shells, buttons, charms, tiny toys, seeds, textured metal, anything small, hard, and heat-safe — and turn them into a pendant, charm, or solid silver object you can keep forever.
This workshop is all about capturing memories, textures, and moments. Sand casting picks up every tiny detail from the surface of your object, giving you a unique, organic sterling silver piece with character.
What You Can Bring
• Shells
• Buttons
• Small charms
• Pebbles or stones (not porous)
• Trinkets or found objects
• Organic items with solid, firm surfaces
• Pretty much anything small and hard that can be pressed into sand
Just remember the larger the item the heavier it will be!
(If you’re unsure, bring a few options — we’ll choose the best one to cast!)
What’s Included
• A guided, step-by-step introduction to found-object sand casting
• 10 grams of sterling silver (or bring your own old jewellery to melt!)
• The option to purchase more silver for larger pieces
• All tools, materials & safety equipment

How You’ll Create Your Silver Found Object
1. Choose your object
Bring a selection of small items. We’ll test their shapes and textures and choose the best one to cast.
2. Prepare your mould
Your object is pressed into jeweller’s sand to capture every tiny detail — shells, ridges, textures, patterns and all.
3. Cast in sterling silver
Watch molten silver fill your mould and transform your found object into solid metal.
You’re also welcome to bring old jewellery or scrap silver to melt.
(If you’d like to bring gold, please contact me before the workshop.)
4. Reveal your cast
Open the mould to reveal your brand-new solid sterling silver version of your object — a moment everyone loves!
5. Clean & refine
File, sand, and finish your piece. You can keep the organic sand-cast texture or polish it to a high shine.
6. Ready to wear or display
Walk away with a meaningful, totally unique silver piece — created from something you found, loved, or connected with.
